All the best with this lost, i will keep it in mind and keep my eye's open being a "hagenees"..
Hi guys,
I apologise in advance if posting in English is against the rules of this message board.
In the night from 20 to 21 july 2018 my RS4 B7 Avant was stolen from the street in The Hague.
Assuming it is still in Netherlands (the chance of which is slim, but still .. ) and given how rare these cars are (I would assume there are no more than a dozen in this color and body style in the entire country) could you guys please notify me (or the Dutch police) in case you see a car that matches the description below?
- RS4 Avant, B7 body style (year 2006)
- Black body, Silver trim on the windows and the roof rails, black trim on the radiator grill
- Swiss number plates (see picture below). These are likely already disposed given the scanners on all major roads. However, the front bracket only takes small plate format, so something like Dutch plates, even the small version, will have to use tape or zipties.
- (can be changed now) standard RS4 wheels - originally silver but can appear black due to brake dust
- (can be changed now) minor, yet noticeable damage (not present in the pictures below) on both front and rear bumpers and the radiator grill
Pictures of the car:
Thank you in advance!
Horrible unfortunately these RS4’s are stolen a lot for criminal activities like assassinations or ATM robbery. After those kind of things they put the car on fire I do not think you will see your car ever again other than burned to the ground. Parking a RS4 on the streets without heavy protection in the Netherlands is like Russian roulette just a matter of time unfortunately before they are stolen.
I think next time a bear lock and low jack is the least protection to keep your RS in possession.
An update:
It turns out that the car has been recovered by the Dutch police after having a crash somewhere in North-Holland on 22 July.
I am somewhat disappointed by the fact that the Police have failed to inform me about this for so long. I have left them my contact details along with filing the report on 21 July, have been to the police station in person on 31 July and 6 August asking about the case, made an inquiry call to 0900-8844 on 20 August and it was only today, on 31 August, during another impromptu trip to the local police station to ask about the progress of the case, was I informed me that the car has been in custody for over a month, collecting a hefty storage bill. Oh well.
Now onto the insurance claims. I am still waiting for the insurance company to provide instructions, but what would be the normal practice in such a cross-border theft case? Shall I expect them to send a specialist to assess the damage and arrange for repairs, or shall I arrange for repairs myself and then just send them a claim/invoice?
