Het wordt wel is tijd voor een A1 topic dacht ik zo! De eerste test mule is ook al gespot is :-D







The first engineering prototype for the Audi A1 has just emerged from Audi's workshop near the Nürburgring. It's the first concrete evidence that development of Audi's upcoming Mini-fighter has become a reality.

Using the body from a VW Polo Cup Edition, Audi engineers have tacked-on fender flares to accommodate the increased width that will give the A1 the improved stance to battle the Mini from both a style and stability standpoint. Any thoughts that this is a mule for a future VW model should be erased when noting that this test vehicle is wearing a manufacturer's plate right out of Ingolstadt, Audi's home turf.

Audi is supposed to show a conceptual look at the styling direction for the A1 at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show. With the sighting of this prototype, it will be nice to know that what shows up at Audi's auto show stand is already becoming a reality in Audi's engineering channels.

Ik weet het niet, het is dan wel nog een concept maar ik ben er niet ondersteboven van. Hopelijk zijn de laatste design uitvloeiselen van Audi geen voorbode van toekomstige Audi ontwerpen (A1 en TTS)...misschien is het ook wel een kwestie van wennen.

Mee eens, maar verder wel een strak bakje. Alleen is het dan wel weer jammer dat ie niet in 1 kleur is.....

Die gril is gaaf alleen moet er nog wel een kenteken plaat houder met kenteken plaat op.

Ik vind dat de voorkant er en profil niet uitziet. Ik weet ook niet hoe ik het moet omschrijven, maar het lijkt net een champignon!

No more guesses. No more renderings. We have obtained the first official photos of the Audi Metroproject Quattro concept, believed to be the first version of the Audi A1.

In an earlier interview, Audi Technical Development chief Michael Dick said the A1 would be "manlier and sportier" than the MINI Cooper.

And he was right. This car has a sleek, shapely front-end that seems to form a menacing grin, and rear tail-lights that virtually stare down trailing motorists. This car rides on classy, lightweight, ten-spoke wheels. Inside the cabin, the Metroproject has impressively clean lines, what appears to be paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, and a built-in MP3 player. On top of everything else, you can seemingly keep track of this car's status on your mobile phone!

The Audi Metroproject Quattro, has a battery pack in visibly mounted in the boot, and lit in tranquil blue lights with a charge indicator on the side. We had heard rumor that this concept would be a hybrid, and it certainly seems that way.

The supermini Audi A1 should be available with a turbocharged gas engine, turbocharged diesel engine, ranging in size from 1.2 litres to 2.0 litres. A base model with an 80 horsepower, naturally aspirated 1.4 litre engine is also expected to hit showroom floors.

With a base price at-or-below $25,500, Audi hopes their MINI-killer will sell between 80,000 and 100,000 per year. Audi has done such a good job with the design of this car, that sales of the Fiat 500 might also be affected. Although previously expected at the Frankfurt show last September, the Audi Metroproject Quattro concept will be revealed to the public in person at 10:30 a.m. Tokyo time on October 24th, at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show. Production on the Audi A1 is scheduled for 2009.

Dick also said, "When a father sits gladly in his daughter's car, then we've got it spot on."

Congratulations, Mr. Dick. We think you have it spot on.

Ik zie de A1 wel zitten in de kleur Phantom zwart met een 210 pk 1.4 TSI (Twincharger) zoals in de VW IROC Concept en geen hybrid.

Dat zou idd wel leuk zijn! ik denk alleen dat dit blok voor als nog tot max 170PK geleverd gaat worden. Dat is denk ik ook wel meer dan genoeg in zo'n klein karretje ;-)

Met een chippie en bv een Milltek RVS uitlaat systeem kom je heel eind.
En wat mijn betreft kan er nooit genoeg vermogen inzitten. :wink:

dan kom je idd wel richting die pktjes. Is er eigenlijk al ergens een tuning programma aan de gang voor de 1.4TSI? Dat blok is ondertussen al een tijdje uit.
Ik ben erg benieuwd. Ik heb wel is gehoord dat de 170PK versie in de golf GT wel erg heet wordt..

Valt me tegen van JD.
VW had een 210 pk versie in de IROC Concept.
En van te hete blokjes heb ik nog niet gehoord.
Een andere optie is dat Audi ook de nieuwe 160 pk 1.8TFSI aanbied.
